Waiting for Godot:
Existentialism is a 20th century movement primarily, literary theological and philosophical which deals with the meaninglessness of life. So in waiting for Godot the meaninglessness or nothingness can be noticed. Therefore, we can here say that the idea of existentialism is very much present in the play.
Here, in waiting for Godot nothingness or theme of meaninglessness can be found as one of the characters in this play tells that ‘nothing to be done’. Moreover we can also say that this is absurd play and the central theme is also meaningless of human existence. Further we can say that Vladimir and Estragon this both characters are waiting for Godot, but Godot never comes. In addition to in the second act to arise a hope in this two characters Beckett has put a few leaves on the tree. So, this leaves is optimized so Vladimir and Estragon are keep waiting for Godot and they are hoping that Godot will come on next day. So the idea of meaninglessness of human life is highlighted.
